GMA dramas on Thai TV
Four of GMA Network’s biggest artists — Carla Abellana, Tom Rodriguez, Dennis Trillo and Alden Richards — recently flew to Bangkok, Thailand to launch and promote the first-ever GMA dramas that will be aired in the country.
Through the successful partnership between GMA’s program syndication arm GMA Worldwide, Inc. and Thailand-based company JKN Global Media, Thai televiewers will now get to enjoy the well-loved Filipino drama series My Husband’s Lover and Carmela.
The GMA stars who topbilled the said dramas visited Thailand last Nov. 5 to appear in various TV programs and grace JKN’s biggest and most glamorous event for 2017, dubbed JKN Mega Showcase: Diamond Gold.
Carla, Dennis and Tom were reunited to promote their groundbreaking 2013 Kapuso primetime series My Husband’s Lover — the story of a wife and her husband’s scandalous affair with his male best friend. It was the very first gay-themed TV series in the Philippines, which earned various awards and commendations for the actors’ powerful and outstanding performances. The drama was also critically-acclaimed for its honest and artistic portrayal of homosexuality, homophobia and infidelity.
In 2014, My Husband’s Lover was nominated Best Telenovela in the 42nd International Emmy Awards. In the same year, Dennis was highly commended as Best Actor in a Lead Role in the 19th Asian Television Awards by Television Asia Plus.
Joining the trio in Thailand was Alden, the leading man in the 2014 drama series Carmela, which was headlined by Marian Rivera.
