Stylish pieces and sources of inspiration on MLTV

- By ARGIE C. AGUJA

On the eighth episode of Season 8 of Modern Living TV, hosts Stephanie Zubiri-Crespi and Bianca GonzalezIntal enlivens the week with stories that focus on how to design the life you love — from the stylish, functional things that you can surround yourself to make a warm and cozy home, to the amazing and empowered women whose positive mindset can let you ignite and pursue your own purposeful passions.

WHEN BEAUTY MEETS FUNCTION

The daughter of founders of the design brand Ital Design, Jam Chan knew early on that she had big shoes to fill. Improving upon the family business, Jam thought of a high-end furniture store that intends to provide a luxurious feeling to its customers by allowing them to attain the kind of style that they want for their houses. And so, House by Ital Design was born.

Since style is an expression of one’s thought and character, Jam thought of gathering a carefully curated collection of premium mattresses, stylish furniture and elegant lighting products in one convenient location. The House collection is frontlined by Dunlopillo, the first latex mattress in the world that originated from the UK. When it opened its doors early this year, House enabled everyone who wanted their own style to be applied to their own home, using a variety of premium mattresses, stylish furniture and elegant lighting products.

MERGING INSPIRATION AND ASPIRATION

For lifestyle blogger and inspirational writer Nicole Ortega, life is short and life is exactly what we make it. Her idealistic dream is that, all who need will have. According to her, knowing what it is to have and knowing what it is to lack is a key part of life’s key moments. She also witnessed countless individuals who have gone through the worst of times and have emerged greatly after their struggles.

From these life experiences, she decided to give back and share lessons and stories via an online platform. Her blog, http://www.

nicoleortega.ph/ is filled with stories about people who inspire; new recipes that reinvent classic favorites and old recipes passed on from generations; articles on entertainment; fresh products, and new discoveries in anything and everything; ranging from beauty to fashion and lifestyle.

TURNING PASSION INTO PROFESSION

For the past seven years, Arriane Serafico has met and worked with so many young people who are truly passionate about what they do. This led into her foray in online teaching, inspired by her own professional struggles and insatiable yearning to learn, and based on a continuously evolving knowledge amassed from both traditional and alternative modes of learning.

Today, her free classes have helped around 10,000 students.

She shares, “Some of them have launched their businesses. Some have sort of revived something that they were doing, but my favorite ones are just the people who really don’t think that they can do it and just taking the first baby steps to come out of their shell and pursue it.”

THINGS THAT MATTER

As Rags2Riches turns a decade-strong this month, it has inspired not only a lot of consumers but also other social entrepreneurs. Thus, Audrey Mae Ferriol, Rags2Riches’ lead designer, co-founded Things that Matter, a learning platform that also allows her team to curate products from other social enterprises.

The brand is set to gather similar-minded social entrepreneurs to form a business ecosystem that will benefit all of its members, stakeholders and, of course, its consumers. In the MLTV episode, Audrey Mae showed some products under “Things that Matter” — from jewelry pieces created by Tacloban women and crocheted toys by mothers based in Manila, to steel sip straws that advocate the reduction of single-use plastic wastage.
