Who’s got the most wellproportioned faces in Asia?
Beauty is often hard to define, but the MAAT Golden Ratio Search used a standard not bound by ethnicity or personal preference: the science of measurements.
Merz, known for the only US FDA cleared, non-invasive skin-lifting and tightening ultrasound device, Ultherapy, applied the ancient measure of the golden measure or divine proportion that our brains are hardwired to perceive as attractive to find the 10 most well-proportioned faces in Asia.
The search was held in the Philippines, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, South Korea, Malaysia, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand, and Vietnam to find the most well-proportioned face in each one and have them represent their own country at the 38th Annual Meeting of the International Society for Dermatological Surgery (ISDS) 2017.
The over 3,000 Asian entries were narrowed down to 10 chosen representatives, namely Trisha May Duncan from the Philippines, Michelle Lai from Hong Kong, Noorin Sha from India, Mitania Hendayani from Indonesia, Jimyeong Jong from South Korea, Salini Muniandy from Malaysia, Nurun Nisha M. Heallmy from Singapore, Wendy Tzu-Wen Hsu from Taiwan, Pan ida Pa op ong rattan ac hai from Thailand, and Nguyen Thi Phuong Tuyet from Vietnam.
The MAAT Golden Ratio Search was a pioneer in Asia, seeking to empower women by celebrating Asian beauty and helping them better understand facial proportions relative to attractiveness. The search was also an integral part of the launch of the first medical guidelines that provide a holistic approach in aesthetic treatments to achieve well-proportioned faces in Asians.
These new medical guidelines, launched at the 38th Annual Meeting of the ISDS, are the first of their kind and are meant to help aesthetic doctors achieve well-proportioned faces in Asians.
“We were very impressed with the high quality of submissions from the region and this signifies how we bring science to life,” said Lawrence Siow, Asia Merz CEO and organizer of the MAAT Golden Ratio Search.
Current guidelines on the application of combination treatments focus predominantly on Caucasian patients. Few are available for Asian patients, forcing doctors to apply recommendations optimized for Caucasian anatomies and aesthetic goals on Asian patients.
But thanks to Merz’s groundbreaking medical breakthrough, over 1,000 aesthetic doctors in the Asia-Pacific region can now better help Asian women celebrate and embrace their own beauty.
