To showcase talent from ASEAN member states and the Republic of Korea, the National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA) and Seoul Music Group team up for the first-ever ASEAN-Korea Flute Festival.

With the theme, Celebrating ASEAN Traditions Across Cultures, the music fest gathers some of the finest flute musicians from the Southeast Asian region to perform modern and traditional songs, and provide lectures in cultural, public and academic venues in the Philippines and Korea until Dec. 9.

The cross-cultural event will kick off with several pocket shows and cultural tours in Metro Manila, Rizal, Bulacan and Pampanga, and will culminate with a gala show at the Carlos P. Romulo Theater, RCBC Plaza today and a public performance at Luneta Park tomorrow, Dec. 2.

Featuring the artistic direction of National Artist for Music Dr. Ramon Santos, the ASEAN-Korea Flute Festival breaks new grounds for better understanding of the country’s shared musical heritage with neighboring ASEAN countries and Korea.

The music festival enjoys funding support from the ASEANKorea Cooperation Fund, as part of the commemoration of the 50th anniversary of ASEAN, the 25th anniversary of ASEAN-KOREA Dialogue Partnership, as well as the ASEAN-Korea Cultural Exchange Year 2017.
