At home with Ethan Allen: Holiday hosting tips by Rocio Olbes-Ressano

-

In time for the season of parties and get-togethers, the holiday-themed “At Home with Ethan Allen” event was held featuring yuletide activities that bring elegance and fun to the traditional holiday celebration.

The affair was hosted by designer Rocio Olbes-Ressano, who shared some of her thoughts and tips on how to celebrate the occasion in style and make it extra-special by adding personal touches to simple details.

Rocio, who has been featured in various high-profile European publications such as Vogue Italia, Elle UK and Japan for her fashion work, is one to stick to the classics.

“I love a classic and traditional holiday experience,” she says. “You cannot beat the classics, and the holidays are all about traditions. I do not do Christmas themes, but I simply lay out traditional décor to create the beautiful, wonderful holiday atmosphere.”

Among the things she looks forward to is the family’s annual Christmas card, which they send to friends and loved ones along with cookies, which the designer personally wraps.

This year, however, Rocio and her husband will be spending their first Christmas in their new home and she’s thrilled to start the family’s own holiday traditions. “We are moving soon so our goal is to have our Christmas tree up in our new home by early December! ” she exclaimed. “I’m very excited to spend Christmas in our new home.”

The designer is decorating their tree with old family ornaments and some candy canes (which she grew up with) to add some fun and fast holiday flair. She also asked her mother-in-law to bring a few to Manila from Portugal so her husband would have something from his childhood as well. “Make your tree the focal point of the season,” she advises. “Create memories by decorating it every year as a family.”

While the season is generally an exciting time for everyone, it can also be stressful at times. Thus, she advises other women to just enjoy the moment.

Rocio’s taste in home decorating embodies a sophisticated and discerning design aesthetic unique and personal to her, something that resonates with Ethan Allen, a brand that brings “beautifully crafted classics that become as much a part of the homeowner’s style.”

TIMELESS HOLIDAY OPULENCE

Guests immersed themselves in holiday crafts, including customized giftwrapping, calligraphy for gift cards, and Christmas-themed centerpiece arrangements.

It was an afternoon filled with creative expression, great company, holiday nibbles, and cheery Christmas spirit. In addition to the activities, donors and guests were given first access and exclusive discounts on Ethan Allen’s newest pieces and upcoming collection. A portion of the proceeds benefitted Habitat for Humanity ReStore.
