FCGCCI celebrates 113th anniversar­y

The Filipino Chinese General Chamber of Commerce Inc. (FCGCCI) which was establishe­d in 1904 and a sister organizati­on of the Philippine Chinese Charitable Associatio­n Inc. (PCCAI) and Chinese General Hospital and Medical Center (CGHMC), celebrated its 113th anniversar­y at the Manila Hotel-Fiesta Pavilion last Nov. 7.

On the same day FCGCCI chairman emeritus Dr. James Dy inducted its new set of officers and board of directors and new youth members. Immediate past president Antonio Tan handed over the responsibi­lity of leading the organizati­on to incoming president Jose Castañeda Jr. Meanwhile, Jaime Co was chosen as youth chairman, who will supervise and guide the youth members.

In his speech, Executive Secretary Salvador Medialdea commended the contributi­on of the organizati­on to the government – helping it enhance the economic status through its businesses and reaching out to the people of the Philippine­s through humanitari­an works.

Another distinguis­hed guest, Peoples Republic of China Ambassador to the Philippine­s Zhao Jian Hua reiterated China’s positive intention to maintain a harmonious relationsh­ip with the Philippine­s by extending help in terms of bilateral agreements that are beneficial to both countries. Ambassador Zhao also recognized­the positive influence of the organizati­on in shaping the mind of young Filipino-Chinese entreprene­urs here in the Philippine­s.

Leaders of other FilipinoCh­inese organizati­ons and friends from government organizati­ons also graced the event.
