In the last episode, MLTV went a little laidback as it visited the relaxing part of the Metro — the South — featuring Filinvest City’s green properties, particularly Westgate and the newly expanded Festival Mall. The taxing commute due to heavy traffic in the concrete jungle has become a constant reality. Thus, property giant Filinvest decided to embark on the task of embracing the global movement of green designs to improve the lives of people.
The company has impressively espoused a live, work and play environment. It is bringing together a residential haven, a business central, a leisure destination, a learning and education zone complete with a medical and wellness hub following a detailed master plan to address the needs of city dwellers.
“In all of our projects, we always take into consideration the end-users or the locators, so we always try to strike the best balance of the softscape and the landscape,” said Filinvest City senior assistant vice president Don Ubaldo.
At the heart of the transformation is an innovative green belt, the Spectrum Midway Linear Park, whose planning was guided by Singapore-based design firm, AECOM. The park has a close to one-kilometer foliage-canopied walkway accentuated by trees, landscaped pathways, lighted seating areas and stimulating outdoor art installations.
SHOPPING IN THE SOUTH
Westgate Center, an upscale outdoor destination, allows food connoisseurs, hobbyists and those with passion for home improvements and cars to enjoy leisurely walks while getting things done. Tucked within the greens of Filinvest City, Westgate enjoys a vantage view from Alabang-Zapote Road and Commerce Avenue.
“Westgate was envisioned to be a parkand-shop concept. It’s very laid-back and very typical of the suburbs here in Metro South, so the establishments are stand-alone and you can just park and shop wherever you want to go,” shared Exhibits and Conventions and Amusement Centers VP for marketing Rose Nuqui.
Today, it has over 20 different dining choices whether for families having a Sunday brunch or those looking forward to an exquisite bottle of wine.
Meanwhile, for a complete shopping experience, Southerners’ go-to place has been Festival Mall, which has grown into the “super regional mall” in the area. Strategically placed at the heart of Filinvest City, the mall has over 700 stores and specialty shops in a sprawling 20-hectare premier shopping, dining and recreational destination in Alabang.
