Cop faces ax for firing gun

A drunk rookie policeman was arrested yesterday for indiscrimi­nately firing his gun in Pasig City.

Police Officer 1 Arnold Gabriel Sabillo of the Rodriguez police station in Rizal will be the first lawman to be dismissed from the service for indiscrimi­nate firing, accordzero ing to National Capital Region Police Office chief Director Oscar Albayalde.

Albayalde said Sabillo did not heed the directive of Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Director General Ronald dela Rosa not to resort to indiscrimi­nate firing during the

holidays.

Dela Rosa has stopped the traditiona­l sealing of gun muzzles of PNP officers.

He said those caught firing their firearms would be dismissed from the police service.

“Sabillo will undergo precharge investigat­ion and once proven guilty, he will be dropped from the PNP roster,” Albayalde said in an interview.

Biay said the police team proceeded to Sgt. De Leon street in HBO in Barangay Santolan and found Sabillo drunk while holding his gun.

Senior Superinten­dent OrlandoYeb­ra Jr., Pasig City police chief, said Sabillo turned himself in and yielded his service firearm loaded with 11 bullets.

Yebra said they would coordinate with barangay and homeowners officials to determine if anyone was wounded by stray bullets caused by Sabillo’s indiscrimi­nate firing.
