2 found hanging in Manila, QC

Two persons reportedly hanged themselves in Manila and Quezon City since Sunday.

Daniela May Versoza, 16, was found hanging under the Quezon Bridge in Quiapo Sunday.

She had been taking refuge under the bridge since August after quarreling with her family, according her 17-year-old friend John Loyd Burselon, said Senior Police Officer 2 Lester Evangelist­a, Manila Police District homicide investigat­or.

Burselon said Versoza often told him about her problems and her “desire to end it all.”

At around 4 p.m. on Sunday, Versoza warned him that she would not be around on Christmas Day, hinting that she was going to commit suicide, he said.

Burselon said he tried to talk her out of her despondenc­y and told her that he was going to fetch her uncle.

He said he left Versoza sitting on the beam of the bridge and found her hanging when he returned at around 5 p.m.

In Quezon City, Joffre Orias, 38, was found dead at the third floor of his family’s house along Kaingin Road in Barangay Apolonia Samson at around 6:30 a.m. yesterday.

Orias and his partner had been drinking when they had a quarrel over her allegedly having an affair with another man, probers said.

Orias’ partner later went to sleep and left him awake.

When one of their children woke up the next morning, he saw Orias hanging from the ceiling with a blanket looped around his neck.

His partner told police Orias had tried to commit suicide twice since November.
