Four persons were killed in separate stabbings in Metro Manila since Sunday.

In Caloocan, a barangay councilman’s wife was found dead in their apartment yesterday.

Barangay 177 kagawad Jaime Abrazaldo said he walked out on his wife, Carmelita Mateo, on Sunday night after they had an argument over her 17-year-old son, who failed to go home the day before and had been causing trouble.

Barangay 119 tanod Joselito Quiambao said the couple argue a lot, mostly about the shenanigans of the 17-yearold, Carmelita’s son from her first husband.

Abrazaldo, who has a 14-year-old son by Carmelita, said he usually walks out whenever they argue.

Carmelita’s eldest son told police he and his stepbrother spent Sunday night outside with his friends.

He said he did not even get to taste the chicken, macaroni salad, and spaghetti his mother prepared for noche buena.

He said he went home at around 7 a.m. and found his mother lying on her bed, blood pooling around her.

He said he slipped on the blood as he rushed to hold his mother.

The teenager said his mother was stabbed multiple times in the neck and upper body. He found a kitchen knife coated with dried blood in the bathroom.

Abrazaldo said he spent the night at the barangay terminal and his son woke him up to tell him about his son’s death.

“We had pictures taken,” Abrazaldo said of that night, before they had an argument. “I was surprised that our sons did not come home. It means their mama was alone.”

Politics eyed in killing

A former barangay captain was stabbed dead Sunday afternoon over politics, police said yesterday.

Judith Tan, 63; the suspect, Juvile Corre, 64; and their friends were drinking in Barangay San Miguel when the conversation turned to the recent barangay elections.

Corre ran to replace Tan as village leder but lost to a candidate Tan endorsed, said Police Officer 2 Danilo Damasco.

Corre left but returned a few minutes later and stabbed Tan with a kitchen knife, Damasco said.

Corre tried to escape but was cornered by police officers who responded to the commotion.

Arguments

In Quezon City, Vicente Armorida and Aileen Papaya were stabbed dead in separate altercations at past midnight yesterday.

Armorida, 25, was killed when he tried to stop his neighbor, Leonard Echavez, from beating up a man identified only as Sammy in Barangay Unang Sigaw at around 1 a.m.

Echavez stabbed him in the chest and fled.

Papaya was stabbed by a still unidentified man at the Bagbag footbridge along Quirino Highway at around 12:10 a.m.

Witnesses told police they saw Papaya and the man having a heated argument while going up the footbridge.

She died a few hours later while being treated at the Quezon City General Hospital.
