Drink to your health with Bordeaux fine wines
Raise a glass to health and prosperity with fine vintage wines from the wine estates of Bordeaux, France, such as Chateau Angelus.
Historical roots and rich flavor distinguish Château Angélus from other wines. Wine Story brings the top picks from one of the most celebrated winemaking countries across the world, such as: • Château Angélus 2012 Saint-Emilion, Bordeaux — a fresh, sweet raspberry and blackberry nose; very aromatic, with floral and subtle green notes. • Château Angélus 2011 Saint-Emilion, Bordeaux — focused and bright, with nice raspberry freshness, the wine displays fine, silky tannins and a very elegant finish. • Château Angélus 2006 Saint-Emilion, Bordeaux — sweet, warm, liqueurlike black cherry and blackberry fruits, with some nice freshness.
The history of Château Angélus dates back to 1544 with Georges Boüard. By 1782, Jean De Boüard de La Forest, a king’s bodyguard, settled in Saint-Émilion. His daughter Sophie De Boüard de La Forest married Charles Souffrain de Lavergne in 1795 and moved to the Mazerat Estate of her husband. Château Angélus is symbolized by a bell that could be heard tolling three times a day — morning, midday, and night to call people to pray.
The marvelous Bordeaux wines that have stood time were highlighted during the recent visit to Manila of Bong GrelatTram from France. The Vietnam-born Château Angélus ambassadress primarily for the Asian markets was joined by Wine Story’s Romy Sia and Christian Tan in the exclusive lunch event. Bong Grelat-Tram introduced a selection of Château Angélus vintages, along with the 2013 Chateau Bellevue, cimson wine characterized by aromas of ripe, crunchy cherry and a few discrete hints of sweet spice; and Château Angélus’ second label, Le Carillon d’Angélus. The 2012 Le Carillon d’ Angelus is a medium-bodied wine characterized by red fruit with a pleasant slight smokiness from the barrel.
