The southern area of Metro Manila has recently been steaming with varied art activities and streams of solo and group exhibitions, generated by the influx of relocating artists and, more importantly, by the opening of more venues and galleries, and a bustling art audience responding to the aesthetic needs of a flourishing building and construction industry. Through all these, a relaxed and well-paced, less stressed lifestyle has emerged and evolved, with art as an essential element.
Thus too, the formation of art groups and the ensuing fellowship of Southern artists who seek and find inspiration and encouragement from each other. While the classical themes of landscapes, still lifes, floral works, domestic interiors, Mother and Child images and genre scenes naturally abound, they have been kindled by a refreshed and invigorated vision and a joyous clarity of colors, brimming with a distinctive Southern style of artistry. “Southern Artplus” runs until January 22. Galerie Anna is at the 4/L, The Artwalk, Bldg. A, SM Megamall, EDSA corner Julia Vargas Ave., Mandaluyong City. For inquiries, call tel no: 470-2511. SMS: 0939-9127930.
