ABS-CBN is ‘most watched network’ in 2017

Most Filipinos tuned in to the relevant news stories and valuable lessons brought by ABS-CBN in 2017 as the network recorded an average audience share of 46 percent on both urban and rural homes according to the full year data from Kantar Media.

ABS-CBN won in the national TV ratings across the country, particular­ly in Metro Manila where it garnered an average audience share of 40 percent. It also beat its rival network in Total Balance Luzon where it registered an average audience share of 48 percent; in Total Visayas it got 53 percent; and in Total Mindanao, 53 percent.

Multinatio­nal audience measuremen­t provider Kantar Media uses a nationwide panel size of 2,610 urban and rural homes that represent 100 percent of the total Philippine TV viewing population.

Meanwhile, the Kapamilya network also ended the year strongly as it recorded an aver- age audience share of 45 percent in December.

Probinsyan­o remained as the most watched program for 2017 and was warmly welcomed into households nationwide as it hit an average national TV rating of 38.6 percent.

Familiar Kids also topped the list as it recorded an average national TV rating of 35.7 percent.

Viewers also witnessed the fulfillmen­t of young singing Pinoys’ dreams in the first edition in Asia of The Voice Teens, which hit 34.4 percent.

La Luna Sangre (33.8 percent), meanwhile, marked the most awaited comeback of Kathryn Bernardo and Daniel Padilla on TV and the reunion of Angel Locsin and Richard Gutierrez.

On the other hand, TV Patrol (31.3 percent) remained as the most watched newscast in the country all year round as it brought timely news and delivered public service to Kapamilya in different parts of the country as it celebrated its 30th anniversar­y.

The young and talented kids of Little Big Shots (31.1 percent) also did not fail to impress viewers nationwide with their charm and irresistib­le wit that made a mark in people’s hearts.

Wansapanat­aym (29.8 percent) also gave a magical treat through its values-laden stories every Sunday. MMK (29.6 percent), meanwhile, continued to bring inspiratio­n with the real life stories of its letter senders on its 25th year.

The touching story of kindness and love in My Dear Heart with 27.6 percent captivated audiences nationwide.

Also making it to the Top 20 were Kapamilya sitcom Home

Sweetie Home (24.2 percent), one of the most talked about series of 2017 Wildflower (23.8 percent), comedy kiddie show Goin’ Bulilit (22.1 percent), Kapamilya Weekend Specials (Sunday) (19.6 percent), news and current affairs program Rated

K (19.2 percent) and noontime variety show It’s Showtime (Saturday) (18.6 percent).

Meanwhile, ABS-CBN also ruled across all time blocks from January to December 2017, particular­ly on primetime where it registered an average audience share of 50 percent. The primetime block is the most important time of the day when most Filipinos watch TV and advertiser­s put a larger chunk of their investment­s in to reach more consumers effectivel­y.

ABS-CBN also led the morning block (6 a.m. to 12 noon) where it recorded 39 percent; the noontime block (12 noon to 3 p.m.) where it got a 45 percent, and the afternoon block (3 p.m. to 6 p.m.) after it garnered 43 percent.
