Understanding local culture for effective management

It is always a challenge for expats and even Filipinos to manage and lead their people if they do not fully understand the local culture. To bridge the gap between foreign and local workers, the Center for Global Best Practices will hold a special program titled “Mastering Filipino Culture for Effective Management” on Feb. 1, 2018 at the Marriott Hotel, Pasay City.

This one-day training is the only program for expats, leaders of the organization, managers, supervisors, HR practitioners and anyone who want to fully understand unique Filipino values, beliefs and traits. When you clearly understand and properly observe these cultural values, you can enhance effective communication, promote teamwork, encourage cooperation, ensure unity and harmony, and motivate people effectively toward greater productivity and excellence. This will also give a comprehensive discussion about the culture elements (language, behavior and arts), Filipinisms, how to motivate, manage and lead effectively using cultural perspectives.

This program will feature cultural-diversity expert Ramon de Leon, managing director of Ayala Corp., under the Office of the Lead Director for Infrastructure. He was seconded to the various Ayala-owned subsidiaries to help in the corporate transformation of Globe Telecom Manila Water, IMI and BPI Family Bank. He has helped many expatriates work effectively in the Philippines, including multi-racial Asians, Europeans and Americans.

This is a must for all expats working in the Philippines or managing a Filipino workforce as well as for Filipinos in a leadership position. This training is open to the general public.
