galerie Joaquin marks 15th year with‘Modernism and FineArt’show
As homage to some of its artists who have passed on, Galerie Joaquin presents its 15th anniversary show titled “Modernism and Fine Art.” It is also part of the gallery’s commemoration of the forthcoming National Arts Month.
Galerie Joaquin managing director Joaquin ‘Jack’ Teotico got interested in art through a humanities class in the early 1970s, having had the famed writer and poet Virgie Moreno as professor. She introduced him to both local and international art. And when Jack retired from his job in 2001, he thought of concentrating on one of his major passions: art. A space was found in the idyllic municipality of San Juan and this was where Galerie Joaquin was established.
Included in the anniversary show are a selection of never-before-exhibited works from artists such as Sanso; the estates of Federico Aguilar Alcuaz, Abdulmari Imao, Ed Castrillo and Mario Parial; as well as works done specially for the exhibit by Angelito Antonio, Justin Nuyda, Raul Isidro, Ramon Orlina, Michael Cacnio, Dominic Rubio, as well as artists Marge Organo, Rudolf Gonzalez and Ombok Villamor.
Galerie Joaquin’s 15th anniversary exhibit opens on Jan. 18, Thursday, at 6 p.m. at the Atrium, 2nd Level of the East Wing of Shangri-La Plaza Mall. It runs until Jan. 28, and is being co-presented by Galerie Raphael. For information, call 723-9418 or 941-6194.
