ILOILO CITY – Two minors were arrested in a police anti-narcotics operation last Jan. 20 at Arevalo in this city, allegedly in possession of 110 sachets of suspected shabu with a street value of P300,000.

The two – a boy and a girl, both 17 years old – were arrested by the Philippine National Police Regional Drug Enforcement Unit (RDEU) after a drug pusher pointed to them as his suppliers.

Senior Inspector Kennith Bermejo, RDEU team leader, said both teenagers were newly identified drug personalities in their barangay.

The girl’s father is reportedly a police officer who is retiring next month. He claimed he had no knowledge of his daughter’s illegal activities.

Also confiscated from the pair were P15,000, including the marked money, drug paraphernalia and a mobile phone.

During their interrogation, both suspects claimed they got their supply from a certain Werjun Tanate, who turned out to be a detainee at the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology district jail.

Meanwhile, drug suspect Louie Tolentino, 32, died while trying to evade arrest in Tuguegarao City, Cagayan Valley.

His motorcycle rammed a concrete post after a short chase. He was pronounced dead on arival at the Alfonso Enrile Memorial District Hospital.
