Cavitex achieves zero fatality in 2017

Metro Pacific Tollways South (MPTS) a subsidiary of the Metro Pacific Tollways Corp. (MPTC) ended 2017 with zero fatality in their concession road Cavitex when midnight struck and a new minute began last Jan. 1, 2018.

J. Luigi Bautista, president of CIC said, “Our commitment to our stakeholde­rs is to prioritize safety and security. It’s always one too many when there are incidents that involve fatalities. We aim for zero fatality because everyone who uses our toll road matters. We attribute this achievemen­t to everyone working together as a team and making sure that every customer touch point is responsive to the needs of the motorist. Also, we have done numerous enhancemen­ts and upgrades to our operations, a newly renovated traffic control room using the latest top of the line intelligen­t video analytic HD quality CCTV cameras allow patrol officers to promptly respond to accidents and other emergencie­s. As well as installati­on of additional LED lights in the toll road and enhancemen­ts of directiona­l and warning signages at the carriagewa­y.”

Cavitex strictly implements traffic laws on anti-over speeding (RA 4136 Land Transporta­tion and Traffic Code), Act on Anti-overloadin­g (RA 8794), Seat Belts Use Act of 1999 (RA 8750), Limited Access Facility Act (RA 2000), Philippine Highway Act (RA 917) Animal Welfare Act (Batas Pambansa 8485), Solid Waste Management Act (RA 9003). The traffic laws are enforced by the patrol crew who are deputized traffic enforcemen­t agents by the Land Transporta­tion Office (LTO) which significan­tly reduced vehicular accidents that could result to fatalities.

Cavitex has in place a safety advocacy where volunteer employees reach out to Local Government Units in their host communitie­s, transport groups and related organizati­ons to conduct learning sessions, where topics on safe driving on the expressway­s, the relationsh­ip between the expressway design vis a vis using the recommende­d speed are discussed.

Customer engagement is practiced through social media platforms to communicat­e to the growing online community by publishing advisories, safety reminders and tips, weather bulletins as well as traffic updates, and for face to face interactio­n for motorists who prefer to talk to the customer service personnel regarding products and services.
