- – Janvic Mateo

Telecommunications company Globe has partnered with the Department of Education and the DQ Institute to improve digital literacy and online responsibility among public school students.

The partnership involves the conduct of a pilot survey in public schools to determine the digital intelligence quotient (DQ) of the Filipino youth.

The study will serve as a benchmark to improve digital intelligence in the Philippines.

“Globe Telecom is supporting DQ Institute in determining the digital intelligence quotient of the Philippines through the multinational DQ Study. This enables us to create new learning techniques to elevate the learning experience of children in the Philippines,” Globe senior vice president for corporate communications Yoly Crisanto said.

“Through our Global Filipino Schools (GFS), we will be able to help more students adopt to the new digital environment and help shape the future leaders of our country,” she added.

At present, Globe has 143 GFS learning institutions, which are provided with free internet connectivity, mobile information and communications technology equipment for learning and teacher training on ICT integration in the classroom.

DQ is defined as the sum of technical, mental and social competencies essential to digital life. It encompasses the skills and values that are needed to thrive as responsible netizens to answer the demands of the digital era.
