‘Bring Home a Friend’
The Department of Tourism (DOT) successfully launched its “Bring Home a Friend to the Philippines” incentive program at the Philippine Embassy in Washington, DC. Tourism attaché Susan
del Mundo and a team from the Philippine DOT in New York spearheaded the launch.
Filipinos and Americans alike praised the incentive program that not only appeals to the sense of nationalism and love of country among Filipinos working and living abroad but also gives them a chance to win exciting prizes such as a condominium unit, a brand-new car, gift certificates worth P200,000 and travel packages to some of the most exciting destinations in the Philippines.
The DOT-New York team was actually in Washington, DC to participate in the recent 2018 Washington DC Travel and Adventure Show held at the Washington Convention Center. During the event, they presented various promotional videos showing top Philippine destinations that include Boracay, Cebu, Bohol, Siargao, Iloilo and Palawan.
“Tourism plays a key role towards a nation’s progress. It applies as both a steady pillar and a solid backbone in nation building and development,” del Mundo said, stressing that one of the priorities of the Duterte administration is to inculcate and instill love of country with dignity and courage among Filipinos, and develop a sense of pride for the rich cultural heritage of the Philippines.
Our Deputy Chief of Mission Patrick Chuasoto lauded the program, saying, “This is the perfect time to bring home a friend to the Philippines.” He also commended the DOT for its aggressive campaign to increase tourist arrivals in the Philippines, emphasizing the important role that tourism plays in achieving inclusive economic growth.
