Pagasa warns of flash floods, landslides

- By HELEN FLORES

The state weather bureau continued to warn the public yesterday against possible flash floods and landslides due to heavy rains brought by the tail-end of a cold front.

According to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA), the weather system will bring moderate to occasionally heavy rains and thunderstorns over Surigao del Norte, Dinagat province, Bicol region and the Visayas today.

“Residents of these areas must undertake precautionary measures against possible flash floods and landslides and coordinate with their respective local disaster risk reduction and management offices,” PAGASA said.

Meanwhile, the rest of Caraga region, and the provinces of Aurora, Quezon and Mindoro will still experience light to moderate rains today.

PAGASA said the northeast monsoon will bring cloudy skies with scattered rains over Metro Manila, Cagayan Valley, Cordillera Administrative Region and Central Luzon.

Ilocos region will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rains also due to the northeast monsoon.

Partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers will prevail over the rest of Mindanao due to localized thunderstorms.

No low-pressure area or tropical cyclone was forecast to enter the country within the next 24 hours, PAGASA said.
