Trade show, photographers’ convention ongoing in Makati
Amateur and professional photographers in the country welcome PhotoWorld Asia 2018, the longest running photography event in the Philippines, ongoing (Feb. 1-6) in Makati City.
The trade show with the participation of the country’s major photo companies and other related business is being held at the Glorietta Ayala Center while the workshops and seminars are conducted at the Asian Institute of Management (AIM). The convention theme is “Photography Through the Years.”
The organizer of PhotoWorld Asia is the Federation of Philippine Photographers Foundation Inc. (FPPF). This year’s chairman is Manny Inumerable, a popular photographer and camera collector, from Taal, Batangas.
Eduviges Huang, chairperson of the FPPF, said the PWA is one of the most awaited events in the industry. Amateur and professional photographers have the chance to learn various techniques in different fields of art as discussed by speakers who have mastered specific topics.
Huang said lecturers include: Gaura Chadha, from India to share unselfishly participants his vast knowledge and experiences in digital photography; Kyx Salcedo, the news affairs editor of CNN
Philippines who will share his photography techniques; Allan Razo who will teach how to capture an image and see it and may alter it instantly;
Bong Bajo, to teach what the photographer can shoot within the time lapse of a common subject; John Silva, will focus on the 19th Century Philippines Through the Years in Eyes of Four Photographers, Albert Honiss, Francisco Van Karup, Felix Laureano and Manuel Arias; Ruel Tafalla, will talk about Bodoir Photography, a rather sensitive subject. Leandre Guevara, who will share his techniques in artificial and natural lighting; George Tapan, a multi-awarded photographer for 50 years, who will share his expertise in travel photography;
Manuel Librodo Jr. specializes in travel, people, glamour and fashion photography; G-nie
Arambulo, a lady photographer expert in sensitive techniques in shooting dancers in motion;
Albert Garcia, a multi-awarded photojournalist, will lecture on human interest and social issues; Neil Garcia will share his expertise on the proper workflow of preparing photographs for publication.
