Bato meets with drug queen
Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Director General Ronald “Bato” dela Rosa met with convicted drug trafficker Yu Yuk Lai yesterday to warn her to stop her illegal activities.
After leading the turnover ceremony of a contingent of Special Action Force (SAF) commandos at the New Bilibid Prison, Dela Rosa visited the Correctional Institution for Women in Mandaluyong City. He went to the prison’s maximum security compound where Yu is detained.
Asked by reporters about the purpose of his visit, Dela Rosa said it is to warn Yu to stop her activities before he steps in as Bureau of Corrections chief.
“I told her to be good because I don’t want to have these issues about drugs,” Dela Rosa said.
He said Yu told her that she has not been involved in drugs and even dared the police chief to kill her if she is lying.
Before meeting Yu, Dela Rosa talked with some prisoners at the medium security compound, calling on them to help in weeding out drugs from the prison.
The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) last year said Yu has remained active in drug trafficking despite her incarceration.
In November last year, PDEA operatives seized some P5 million worth of shabu from Yu’s cell and other parts of the prison. Her daughter, Diana Yu, was caught in another operation near Malacañang in Manila.
