Tuko delos Reyes (right) of Aurora and Sofronio Vasquez (photo) of Misamis Occidental are the newest singers to advance to the grand finals of Tawag ng Tanghalan on ABS-CBN’s It’s Showtime after winning the Quarter 3 week-long semifinals that culminated on Feb. 3.

Tuko recorded the highest combined score of 95.95 percent from the madlang people’s text votes and judges’ scores, while Sofronio garnered 87.57 percent.

Both singers were moved to tears when announced as the winners of the semifinals, bringing home P150,000 each and beating the other four contenders from Visayas and Mindanao.

The two new grand finalists have been vocal about chasing their dreams and passion for singing despite having pursued different fields. Tuko majored in information technology, while Sofronio is a dental medicine graduate, but both have performed in gigs and events to support their family.

Tuko and Sofronio will face tough competition in the grand finals with Jovany Satera and Alfred Relatado of Quarter 1, Anton Antenorcruz and Remy Luntayao of Quarter 2, and global grand finalists Steven Paysu and Makoto Inoue.

Don’t miss the last quarter of Tawag ng Tanghalan, in the noontime variety show, Mondays to Saturdays on ABS-CBN and ABS-CBN HD (SkyCable Channel 167). For the program’s past episode, log in to iWant TV or on skyondemand.com.ph for Sky subscribers.
