Zark’s rips Mila’s Lechon, notches fifth straight win

-

Zark’s Burger-Lyceum feasted on Mila’s Lechon in the second half as the Jawbreakers chalked up their fifth straight victory with a 102-55 rout in the PBA D-League Aspirants’ Cup the at Pasig Sports Center yesterday.

Mike Nzeusseu put in a 15-point, 10-rebound performance while Jaycee Marcelino and Kim Cinco chipped in 12 markers apiece in the lopsided victory that kept the Jawbreakers’ surge after an opening game setback.

Top gun CJ Perez had a conference-low nine points, five boards, two assists and one steal but the reigning NCAA MVP didn’t really need to put much effort for Zark’s as the bench stepped up and combined for 55 points.

The Mighty Roasters actually matched the Jawbreakers’ 25-point start after 10 minutes and trailed by just five, 39-44, at the turn. But the Jawbreakers came out of the break in fierce form, scoring 29 points while holding their rivals to just eight markers to build a huge 26-point bulge.

Zark’s Burger coach Topex Robinson, however, didn’t like what he saw in the first half and stressed the need for his wards to play heads-up all throughout in every match.

Ken Acibar fired 16 points but no other player churned out a double-digit output for Mila’s Lechon, which fell to 0-4.

Marinerong Pilipino later blasted Wangs Basketball-Letran, 96-84, to notch its second straight victory and third overall in five games.
