Pimentel kin appointed to Filipinos overseas commission
President Duterte has appointed a distant relative of former Senate president Aquilino Pimentel Jr. to the Commission on Filipinos Overseas, along with several others whose appointments were made public by Malacañang yesterday.
Duterte appointed Astravel Pimentel-Naik as executive director V of the Commission on Filipinos Overseas.
Naik also worked at the Office of Senate President Aquilino “Koko” Pimentel III, son of the elder Pimentel.
The father and son tandem are members of PDP-Laban, the political party of Duterte when he ran for president in 2016.
Naik’s records showed that she worked as assistant to the chief-of-staff at the Office of Senate President Koko Pimentel, and as coordinator for PDP-Laban Affairs.
Malacañang also released yesterday the appointment papers of Eduardo Bringas as executive director of the Presidential AntiCorruption Commission; David Lucelo Diwa, as member of the board of directors of the Bases Conversion and Development Authority; Mark Steven Co Pastor, as assistant secretary of the Department of Transportation (DOTr); Leandro Angelo Aguirre, as deputy commissioner of the National Privacy Commission; Carlo Antonio Baculo Almirante, as member of the board of trustees of the Government Service Insurance System; and Gerard Salapantan, presidential legislative Assistant of the Presidential Legislative Liason Office.
Erlito Tancontian, director III of the Department of Information and Communications Technology; Arthur Nismal Escalante, member of the Philippine Contractors Accreditation Board of the DTI; Henry Anthony Torres, director II, Office of Civil Defense, DND; Joseph Ray Gumabon, assistant director general of the Civil Aviation Authority; Thomas Orbos, undersecretary of the DOTr; Cesar Canonizado Cassion, as director IV of the Department of Health; Timothy Batan, as DOTr undersecretary; Rosie Javate as director III of the DPWH; and Wilfredo Mallari, director III of DPWH.
