Recognizing great minds

- By SERENA ORDOVEZA

With one of its goals to hone leaders equipped with the mindset and the skills at par with the world’s best, First Pacific Leadership Academy (FPLA) continues to educate and inspire thought leaders and future leaders to become the best version of themselves.

FPLA, the first corporate university in the Philippines, boasts excellent leadership development programs as well as numerous learning events held throughout the year like executive talks, corporate series, innovation congress, HR congress, among many others.

Its chairman Manuel V. Pangilinan has always been a firm believer in the power of learning, along with immense hard work, dedication and passion, as a fitting way to hone and develop leaders of the country.

“The academy has always been a great source of learning for both the leaders of the group and of so many others, in and out of the country. The passion with which the people work in making the academy better every year is something that allows us to have the opportunity to offer the best leadership, innovation and HROD programs,” Pangilinan said.

FPLA board of trustees president and PLDT head of business transformation office Victorico Vargas shared, “The academy continually transforms itself to ensure that leaders are provided with the best tool — be it through the leadership programs, executive talks, or through sharing the value of the diversity that the world offers through wellcrafted corporate events.”

Recently, the academy held its fifth Circle of Excellence Awards Night at The Conservatory of The Peninsula Manila to honor the leaders within its organization.

FPLA general manager and executive director Roy Agustin Evalle shared, “FPLA’s fifth anniversary has proven that we have remained true to our commitment in developing leaders and future thought leaders of this country. By recognizing our leaders from within the academy, we not only provide everyone with a glimpse of the passion they put forth but also the hope to inspire and challenge others to do the same.”

The night also gave due recognition to the academy’s service awardees including Norman Morte, head of operations; Sheryl Balusa, head of banquet sales; Licel Paracha, Arlene Tungul, Sherine Ruth Arambulo, Evelyn Amora, Ma. Carmela Young, Maria Paz Pascua and Maria Suzette Valmonte.

Philip Iñigo Canizares was honored with the Circle of Excellence Award for his tireless work and dedication to the company in whatever capacity he is assigned. Other nominees included were Arlene Tungul and Jerone Atria Ballarta, both of whom have also exhibited excellence in their respective roles in the organization.

For the first time, the academy also welcomed individuals in the Leadership Honors Society for their contribution to the growth and success of the organization. They were Norman Morte, Kay Donato, head of program management and communications; and Nino Cabredo, head for innovation and research analytics.

Guests were treated to a sumptuous feast while balladeers Chad Borja and Bo Cerrudo serenaded the audience with their renditions of timeless classics.
