DepEd to parents, students: Register early for SY 2018-19
The Department of Education (DepEd) is calling on parents and students to avail themselves of its early registration for school year 2018-2019, which will end on Feb. 28.
The agency, however, clarified that the ongoing early registration in public schools nationwide only covers incoming kindergarten, Grades 1, 7 and 11 learners, since those in remaining grade levels are already considered pre-registered.
The early registration aims to better address and prepare for possible issues and concerns at the start of the new school year this June, it said.
DepEd said it aims to ensure that all five-year-old children by Aug. 31 are enrolled in kindergarten.
The initiative also intends to locate, identify and enroll out-ofschool children and out-of-school youth who are in remote or geographically isolated areas or under difficult circumstances.
Incoming kindergarten learners must bring their Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA)-issued birth certificate and copy of the Early Childhood Development (ECD) checklist report from the previous school year’s day care centers.
Grades 1, 7 and 11 learn- ers, meanwhile, must present their PSA birth certificate and previous school year’s report card.
The agency reiterated that no registration fee or any payment must be collected from the child or the parents/guardians, pursuant to its “No Collection Policy.”
