- – Marc Jayson Cayabyab

Two persons were killed and another wounded by unidentified assailants in Caloocan City in the past three days.

Gilbert Pangilinan, 52, was riding his tricycle Wednesday night when he was chased down by two gunmen who shot at him along Zapote road in Barangay 174.

He abandoned his tricycle and ran for a hundred meters before being shot in the chest, stomach and hands by gunmen wearing hoodies, according to Caloocan police North Extension Office chief Senior Inspector Dennis Odtuhan. He died at the scene.

Joice Aldaba and Christian Pegarido, who were riding a motorcycle, happened to have witnessed the killing of Pangilinan, prompting the suspects to point their guns at them, Odtuhan said.

The suspects stole the key of the motorcycle and Aldaba’s backpack containing P10,000 cash.

Pangilinan may have been killed due to a land dispute, Odtuhan said.

On Tuesday night, Agapito Tubal, 19, and his brother Ama, 18, were buying gasoline at a store for their tricycle when two unidentified assailants shot at them in Barangay 176, Bagong Silang.

It was Ama, who was only hit in the hip, who drove the tricycle to the hospital where Agapito was declared dead on arrival due to a gunshot wound in the head.

Agapito has been receiving death threats since November due to his involvement in a murder case, Odtuhan said without elaborating pending results of an investigation.
