Colorum Grab, Uber drivers get reprieve from LTFRB

- – Romina Cabrera

There will be no apprehension for colorum Grab and Uber operators until the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) finishes processing nearly 60,000 application franchises, an official said yesterday.

LTFRB member Aileen Lizada said the processing is expected to take “several months” and they would adhere to a “status quo” of normal operations until then.

The LTFRB will start processing applications come Monday, with only 300 applications to be processed per day.

Lizada has asked the public, especially the operators of transport network vehicle services (TNVS), for patience as the process is still new for both the LTFRB and the transport network companies (TNCs).

Lizada said they are also ironing out details on leased cars which have been used as TNVS units.

More than 39,000 cars are currently operating as TNVS but certificates of public convenience or franchises can only be issued to the registered car owner.

Grab and Uber partners were advised to submit their loan numbers and account names to their respective companies, which would be submitted to the LTFRB.

Lizada also asked TNVS operators to personally appear during their scheduled hearings so that they can properly understand the processes at the LTFRB.
