AJ Research Pharma inks agreement with Biotest of Germany

Antibodies are what the immune system uses to combat infections. They latch onto foreign substances, such as bacteria and viruses, which enter the body and can cause disease. Persons with a strong and healthy immune system can produce enough antibodies to effectively combat the presence of antigens but those whose immune systems are compromised become more vulnerable to illness.

AJ Research Pharma Philippines recently signed a Sales, Marketing and Distribution Agreement with Biotest, a biologics company based in Germany to bring to the Philippines a range of products that give chronically-ill new perspectives. Among these products are antibody concentrates from blood plasma that are used therapeutically to help cure a range of diseases from septic shock, multi-drug resistance and autoimmune diseases from infants to adults.

This landmark partnership now brings health products that are beneficial to many Filipinos who are suffering from autoimmune conditions. “The Biotest products were first launched in Europe, then North and South America, in other parts of Asia, and now the Philippines,” says Janice Rivera, AJ Research Pharma ethical division product manager. She explains that the preparations are obtained from human blood plasma, virus inactivated, purified from undesired accompanying substances and enriched. The production of plasma and also the production of immunoglobulin preparations are subject to strict national and international guidelines.

“These are products that save lives through research and innovation,” she adds. “This is a very significant milestone for the company as this now brings AJ Research Pharma Philippines to a new high level of Pharma Classification. We are now classified as a real life-saving drug provider.”

John Hodkinson, Biotest AG head of business operations (Sales Region Intercontinental); Javed Mohammad, AJ Research and Pharma chief executive officer and Christos Trikkas, director of business development and marketing APAC were in the country recently to seal the distributorship agreement.
