Tondo cop charged with teen’s murder
The family of 13-year-old Aldrinne Pineda has filed a murder complaint before the Office of the Ombudsman against the police officer who allegedly tripped and fired his gun, killing the boy in Tondo, Manila.
In her sworn affidavit filed before the ombudsman on Tuesday, Michelle Pineda said she is suing Police Officer 2 Omar Malinao of the Raxabago police station in Tondo for murdering her son last March 2.
Aldrinne was buried at the Manila North Cemetery yesterday.
The victim’s family was assisted by the Commission on Human Rights (CHR) in suing Malinao, who has since surrendered and claimed he tripped and accidentally fired his gun at the boy.
The STAR earlier reported that Aldrinne’s last words to his father Allan Pineda was that a police officer shot him as he was hanging out with his friend at a slaughterhouse in Vitas, Tondo.
In her complaint affidavit, Aldrinne’s mother said her son was hanging out in front of the slaughterhouse that night, when he walked home with his friend with blood dripping from his body.
As her husband rushed Aldrinne to the hospital, she went around asking the police officers on duty in the area about the gunshot that hit her son.
While one police officer told her no one fired a gun, another police officer advised her to just take her son to the hospital.
Aldrinne’s 13-year-old friend said in his complaint affidavit that Malinao fired his gun after he was teased by a group of boys, then ran away without helping the victim.
CHR National Capital Region officer-in-charge Diana de Leon forwarded the case to Deputy Ombudsman Cyrile Ramos for investigation.
