Northern series third leg under way

Danes Sarmiento tries to make a reprise of his big victory in the second leg of the Northern Series when he sets out as the favorite today in the 2018 National Drag Racing Championships at the Clark International Speedway in Pampanga.

Sarmiento ruled the Quick 8 races by 1.5 seconds in his trusty Honda Civic over Alvin Abrigo and Allan Araro in a three-cornered fight for supremacy in the division reserved for the leg’s eight fastest drivers in the time trials.

Also gunning for repeat wins in the races sponsored by Aguila Auto Glass, Sparco, M&H race tire and with Driven2rideph and Backstage as media partners are Aaron Lao (Super Pro), Ryan Quimpo (Pro), Jefferson dela Cruz (Expert), John Paul Hernandez (Sportsman) and Gabriel Lampa (Hotstreet).

The unlimited time trials over the quarter-mile track fire off at 8 a.m. on Saturday in the Super Pro and Pro classes followed by the other divisions. Titles in the races sanctioned by the Automobile Association of the Philippines will be disputed on Sunday.
