It’s a battle of wits for ‘EU Whiz’

-

Everything is geared up for the most exciting quiz about the European Union and the EU-Philippine relations this year – the “EU Whiz.”

It is the ultimate battle of wits as top-notch universities and colleges from Metro Manila will showcase their expertise and knowledge about the EU today at the University of Santo Tomas in Manila, this year’s host university.

European Union Ambassador Franz Jessen said that the EU Delegation to the Philippines has launched this quiz to motivate young Filipinos to rediscover their ties and common history with European Union as well as to encourage them to get familiar with the EU and its work in the Philippines.

“This is a timely event since the Partnership and Cooperation Agreement between the EU and the Philippines was launched last March 1,” he said.

The PCA reflects the longstanding partnership the European Union has with the people of the Philippines and the European Union’s commitment to investing in a strong and mutually beneficial relationship.

The EU Delegation to the Philippines always puts a premium on the talents and skills of the Filipino youth who are the future leaders of the country, he said.

Twelve higher education institutions will vie for the EU grand slam as they answer questions about the EU, its institutions and its bilateral relations with the Philippines and the EU member states embassies.

The following institutions will participate in the EU Whiz: Ateneo de Manila University, College of Saint Benilde, Far Eastern University, Lyceum University of the Philippines, Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila, Polytechnic University of the Philippines, Philippine Women’s University, St Scholastica’s University, University of Asia and Pacific, University of the East, University of the Philippines and University of Santo Tomas, the host university.

The EU Whiz is supported by Philstar.com and Citi Global College in Cabuyao, Laguna.
