PUP tops fresh grad hires last year — Jobstreet

The Polytechni­c University of the Philippine­s (PUP) was the top source of fresh graduates hired by companies last year, according to the latest report released by employment portal JobStreet Philippine­s.

Companies that took part in the JobStreet survey said most applicatio­ns for their vacancies came from graduates of PUP, making the state university their top source of fresh graduate hires last year.

Employers said they also considered the school reputation and the positive attitude and work ethic of employees who are PUP graduates.

Meanwhile, the University of the Philippine­s (UP) and Ateneo de Manila University (ADMU) ranked second and third, respective­ly, in the list released by JobStreet.

Companies said they chose UP graduates because of the school reputation, outstandin­g profiles and performanc­e in interviews and the positive attitude and work ethic of the employees from the state university..

ADMU graduates were chosen mainly due to school reputation, positive attitude and work ethic of employees from the school and the preference of the company management.

Other schools in the list of top sources of fresh graduate hires last year were the University of Santo Tomas, Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila, Far Eastern University and De La Salle University.

Completing the top 10 were the Technologi­cal Institute of the Philippine­s, University of San Carlos, University of Cebu and University of the East.

JobStreet said it is the first time that universiti­es outside Metro Manila were included in the list.
