YWCA holds 36th national biennial convention
The Young Women’s Christian Association of the Philippines (YWCA) will hold its 36th National Biennial Convention on April 27-29, at the Hotelinda Suites, Vigan City with the theme “Make Yers Connection: Mission Possible.”
The YWCA national president Dr. Leonida Bayani-Ortiz said the meeting will gather leaders of YWCA from different parts of the country.
Host local association is YWCA of Vigan City under the leadership of Dr. Ocarna Figuerres as local president. This would be the first time that the YWCA convention will be held in Vigan City.
Former city mayor Eva Marie Medina will be the keynote speaker during the opening ceremonies.
Preceding the NBC is the NYCC pre-biennial meeting and the spiritual enrichment program to be facilitated by seminarian Erylle Cordero of the Immaculate Concepcion of Theology, Vigan City, lIocos Sur.
The YWCA membership will also elect members of the National Council for biennium 2018-2020. The YWCA of the Philippines national council is the highest policy making and governing body of the Association. The MBM/NBC organizing committee is led by Norma Geronimo, chairperson; Lilia Farinas, co-chairperson; members, Rebecca Aropat, Jessica Deboton, Karen Pira, Fatima Tizon and Corazon Tiangco.
The YWCA of the Philippines is part of the World YWCA, a global network of women in 125 countries worldwide advocating for peace, justice and human rights.
To date, YWCA of the Philippines has 26 local associations with member/beneficiaries of 26,000.
