Mober expands to provinces

- By LOUELLA DESIDERIO

Mober Technology PTE, provider of on-demand platform for same-day delivery service, is expanding its operations in the country through the launch of services in Cebu, Pampanga, Davao, and the Bicol region.

Mober founder and chief executive officer Dennis Ng said the tech startup would begin its expansion by rolling out the service in Cebu next month.

“We see the south as a natural progression to expand our operations. There are lot of appliance centers in Cebu that would benefit from our platform,” he said.

After Cebu, he said the app would also be available in other areas with a big appliance market such as Pampanga and Bicol within the second quarter, and Davao within the year.

After starting operations in those new areas this year, Ng said Mober wants the average number of bookings received to grow to 1,000 per day from just 250 to 280 bookings daily at present.

Apart from expanding to new areas, Ng said Mober is also improving the app and investing in marketing using the funds received from 2GO Group Inc. earlier this year in exchange for equity in the startup.

Following the deal, Mober is serving SM’s businesses including SM Appliance Centers.

Ng declined to disclose the specific amount invested by 2GO, but said this was a seven-digit dollar figure.

Founded in December 2015, Mober currently operates in Mega Manila.

Through the Mober web or mobile platform, individuals, small and medium enterprises, and other businesses can book a delivery vehicle anytime and receive the delivery within the same day.

Ng said Mober serves individuals moving furniture, store deliveries, as well as those who need to transport their pets to the vet or anywhere safe and sound.

A single trip with Mober has an initial cost of P750 for the first five-kilometers (km), while an additional P30 is charged for the succeeding kilometer within Mega Manila to Metro Manila to outlying cities in Cavite and Bulacan.

Through cargo-sharing, a customer can choose to have the item delivered between 12 p.m. and 3 p.m.; 3 p.m. and 6 p.m.; and 6 p.m. tand 9 p.m.

Mober consolidates orders to bring down the base rate to P450.

The Mober vans will be on standby and leave at the appointed departure time regardless if the van has one or multiple delivery points.

“With our cargo-sharing alternative, customers have three windows to choose from to enjoy same-day delivery. This results in faster movement of stock and happy buyers,” Ng said.
