DILG bags int’l award for good governance study
The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) bagged an international award in a global conference held in South Korea for its notable study and recommendations on good local governance.
DILG OIC-Secretary Eduardo Año said the Department’s regional office in Cagayan Valley earned the Best Practice Award for its study entitled “Seal of Good Local Governance (SGLG): The Blueprint in Defining and Directing DILG Region 2 Programs, Projects and Activities Implementation and Service Delivery.”
“My commendations to the DILG Cagayan Valley regional management for harnessing the results of SGLG in identifying the strengths and weaknesses of LGUs in your region in order to assist them to improve their governance performance for the benefit of the people,” he said.
The award was presented during the International Association for Public Human Resource Development (IAPHRD)’s 4th International Conference at the Sungkyunkwan University in Seoul.
Año lauded DILG Region 2 for initiating the study whose objective is for the DILG to maximize the SGLG results by coming up with responsive interventions such as capacity development, technical assistance, or policies that will further enable and empower local government units (LGUs).
For the past three years, the SGLG annually conferred by the DILG has been a badge of honor and pride to LGUs that meet good governance standards.
Three personnel of DILG Region 2 conducted the study and presented it in the IAPHRD paper conference in South Korea with the theme “Advancing Strategic and Humanistic Public Human Resource Governance for Innovation and Public Value.”
