NLEX opens add’l lane at San Fernando exit
The NLEX Corp. has completed the construction of an additional lane at the San Fernando Interchange Northbound Exit to cater to the increasing volume of traffic in Pampanga.
This project expanded the 336-meter northbound exit ramp at San Fernando Interchange, increasing the number of deceleration lanes to two. Motorists and commuters heading to San Fernando City from Bulacan and Manila will benefit from this newly opened lane.
The dual-lane exit ramp will prevent traffic bottlenecks and improve traffic flow especially during rush hours.
As part of its project pipeline, NLEX Corp. seeks to further expand the San Fernando Interchange by constructing additional lanes in the southbound entry and exit ramps.
The San Fernando Exit is considered one of the busiest tollway interchanges along the NLEX due to its proximity to business centers and road access to other provinces such as Bataan, Nueva Ecija, and Zambales.
To address the mounting traffic issues and match the progress in Pampanga’s capital city, NLEX Corp. also enhanced the San Fernando Interchange in 2017 by building two new bridges that cross the NLEX to function as separate carriageways.
The interchange ramps were also widened into four lanes in each direction. The east and west roundabouts along Jose Abad Santos Ave. were also removed to pave way for the installation of automated traffic signals.
NLEX Corp. also opened the new Subic-Clark-Tarlac Expressway (SCTEX) Mabiga Interchange and NLEX Sta. Ines-Magalang Exit last February to ensure safe and convenient travel for motorists along NLEX, SCTEX, and MacArthur Highway within the Greater Clark area.
The Company has been at the forefront in expanding its network of expressways that bring people and goods to the countryside and vice versa. NLEX Corp. has also pioneered in opening up urban expressways that bring people deep into the cities, but not experiencing traffic congestion. NLEX Corp. is also driving and stimulating trade and commerce due to its expressways that provide access to and from the city’s ports aptly called Harbor Links.
NLEX has been synonymous with fast, safe and comfortable travel, first experienced with the opening of the North Luzon Expressway in 2005. Tollways have been the same again.
