Earth Day Jam’s successful comeback to QC
The longest-running music event for the environment Earth Day Jam returned to Quezon City this year, as thousands of jammers sang and danced to their favorite OPM tunes while being educated by different speakers on how to take care of Mother Earth.
Held at the Quezon City Circle, the 18th-year edition of
Earth Day Jam was once again a success and Earth Day Jam Foundation, Inc. founder Lou Bonnevie couldn’t hide her feelings.
“It feels good to be back in Quezon City after seven years away. It’s amusing because when we did this before in QC, we partnered with Sonny Belmonte and now (we partnered) with his daughter Joy. I’m very happy with the partnership with Vice Mayor Joy Belmonte. It was a very successful return to Quezon City. Congratulations to all of us,” Lou said.
The concert was opened by Sandwich followed by Rouge, Sud and Mayonaise. Barbie Almalbis sang her hits, while Brownman Revival and Gracenote made the audiences dance through their performances.
Lou entertained Earth Day jammers with her own takes on Mad World, Everybody Wants To Rule The World, Kapayapaan, Come
Together, and a rock ‘n roll version of What a Wonderful World.
Joey Ayala brought back the time as he sang his classic songs while Wally Gonzales performed Juan dela Cruz band songs.
L.A.-based rapper Aw Day P together with Abra provided the rap genre in the show while Tanya Markova, The Chongkeys, Chicosci and Slapshock supplied the firepower in their separate performances that made the jammers jump and slam with their hits.
The Earth Day Jam Foundation was the event presenter, in cooperation with the Department of Environment and Natural Resources and the Quezon City government. Supporters included First Gen Corp., Maynilad, the Pasig River Rehabilitation Commission, Tagbalay Foundation, Peace and Equity Foundation and Lifebank Foundation.
Also supporting the event were The Philippine STAR,
BusinessMirror, Ministop, Dickies, 888 Electric Vehicles, Coconut House, Cravings, Philippine Concerts, Manila Concert Scene and Rakista, among others. For details, log on to www.earthdayjamfoundation.com and visit the Earth Day Jam Foundation page of Facebook.
