BCDA starts bidding for New Clark City utilities

- Richmond Mercurio

The Bases Conversion and Development Authority (BCDA) has started bidding for joint venture partners for the power and water distribution requirements in New Clark City.

The partners will design, build, finance, operate and maintain the electric power distribution system and the water and wastewater infrastructure in what is envisioned to be Asia’s premier economic hub.

BCDA said interested proponents may purchase the eligibility documents and the information memorandum for a non-refundable fee of P500,000 each.

A pre-eligibility conference for both utilities will be held on May 29 at the BCDA office in Bonifacio Global City.

BCDA intends to award the contracts for both projects by September this year.

The 9,450-hectare New Clark City is envisioned to be the country’s first smart, disaster-resilient and sustainable city.

The first phase of the development covering 60 hectares will feature the National Government Administrative Center that will house back-up offices of various government agencies and a world-class sports complex being constructed in time for the 2019 Southeast Asian Games.

The new metropolis will also have mixed-use of residential, commercial, agroindustrial, educational institutions and other information technology developments.
