Warm hugs on the go

Sometimes all you need for a gooda pick-me-up is a hearty serving of cheesy goodness.

You don’t need me to tell you that life is hard. The traffic, the long lines, the unbearable weather. Friends and family can help lift the weight, but nothing makes all your problems disappear like a mother ’s warm hug. You run into her arms and everything just melts away.

Sadly, we all can’t stay in our mothers’ arms forever — I mean, they have their own lives too. Which brings us to the next best thing: comfort food. Everybody’s got their own favorite meal that feels just like a warm hug: sometimes it’s ice cream, sometimes it’s a big, chewy cookie. But nothing compares to a homecooked Filipino meal. There’s just something about adobo or

giniling that coats your heart (and your tummy) and tells you that everything’s going to be okay.

Which is why Eden Cheese is taking over the city with the comfort food we’re all familiar with. But here’s the twist: they’re making everything cheesier, and honestly, who doesn’t like cheese? They’ve come up with the Eden Comfort Food Maker, a kiosk that will pop up in different locations around the metro. You type out your name on the screen, rate how much comfort you think you need that day,

et voila — a hot meal comes out for 50 pesos. If you don’t need a screen to tell you what meal you want, you can also choose from four familiar dishes: cheesy pork steak, cheesy tuna melt, cheesy pork giniling, and cheesy chicken adobo. Talk about instant comfort.

But, if you’re in the mood for a little kitchen action, but don’t know where to start to get that same feeling, Eden’s got you covered. They also put up cheeseyanything.com, a repository of recipes on recipes on recipes of comfort food — all with cheese, of course. Again: just like a warm hug. So the next time you’re feeling a bit worn down and can’t get to your mom for a real hug, a bit of cheesy comfort food should do the trick.
