The Philippine Star

An affair to remember

-

Filipino artisans have been on the spotlight for a couple of years now. The attention to handmade products has resulted in the resurgence of various art forms — their noteworthy and outstanding expressions have become relevant in today’s contemporary lifestyle.

More and more brands are coming to the fore and are born as the handmade revolution proliferates due to the increasing demand and interest by both local and international markets. Thus, more platforms and avenues of exhibition are being created to promote artisanal pieces and they help strengthen the presence of handmade products beyond the fashioning of trends.

On June 2, Anya Resort in Tagaytay celebrates Filipino craftsmanship in all forms with its inaugural Art Infusion Fair. The luxury boutique resort will host an exciting day filled with locally made fashion pieces, accessories, including food items.

There will be a whole-day Trunk Show at the Nilaya Ballroom, featuring 20 merchants showcasing their fine creations from apparel and accessories, to home decor and food products. Participating exhibitors include 365 EO, Association of Women for Organic Farming, Azala PH, Chill by Nooks, Cora and Bear, Elinora PH, Elms Accessoria de Casa, Good Luck, Humans, Invitation House, Junk Not!, Manika Pomade, Melograno by Ruby Roa, Modern East, Oliver and Maude, Silk Cocoon, Tali Handmade Bags, Wear Anika and Yogi Brunch. What’s more is that 10 percent of the proceeds of all merchants will be donated to the Roxas Foundation to help empower communities through skills and technology training.

Aside from food and shopping, the event will also hold a talk on essential oils by Geri Gil and Marilen Elizalde at the Borderless Library; a beer crafting session with Ian Paradies of Engkanto Beer at Amra Deli; a street dance workshop at the Elite Club Gym hosted by Steps Studio; an activity to customize and decorate your own pizza for Art in Pizzas at Anila plus a special film screening and barbecue grill night at the Tala Garden.

Art is alive and it needs support to survive. Join this noteworthy cause and celebrate local.

(The Art Infusion Fair will be held on June 2, Saturday, at Anya Resort Tagaytay. For more information, visit www.facebook.com/anyaresorttagaytay/.)
