Drug war: 2 dead, 32 arrested

An informant and an alleged pusher were killed and 32 others were arrested for illegal drugs in Metro Manila over the past two days.

Informant Julius Garcia was shot dead by unidentifi­ed assailants as he and his partner were buying sticks of barbecue in Barangay 175 before midnight Friday.

Garcia may have been compromise­d as an informant on the local illegal drug trade, Caloocan police chief Senior Superinten­dent Restituto Arcangel said.

Police recovered five cartridge cases, two fired bullets and a deformed fired bullet as well as a loaded improvised firearm at the crime scene.

Meanwhile, an alleged pusher was killed in a reported shootout during a sting in Quezon City before dawn yesterday.

The suspect, identified only as Boy Muslim, died at the scene of the sting along Molave street in Barangay Payatas at around 4 a.m.

Recovered at the crime scene were a .38 caliber revolver, fired cartridge cases, five sachets said to contain shabu, a sachet of marijuana and P2,000 marked money.

Also in Quezon City, at least 17 persons were arrested in separate anti-drug operations in Barangays Pasong Tamo, Kaligayaha­n, Pasong Putik, Old Balara, Project 4, Pansol and Bagumbayan.

Drug den

In Manila, 11 persons were arrested during a sting at a drug den in Tondo Friday night.

According to a report by Superinten­dent Jerry Corpuz, Jose Abad Santos police station commander, Arlene Florez and Jomar Llanes – whose names are in the local drug watchlist – were arrested before midnight.

The two suspects’ companions were also arrested after they were caught in a drug session. Among them are Guillermo Duron, George Valencia, Archie Florez, Arman Florez, Eduardo Ulatan Jr., Leomar Guevarra, Rolenz Robert Trinidad and Jay-R Saragoza.

Police recovered 15 sachets of shabu with an estimated street value of P7,500, a .38 caliber pistol and bullets in the drug den.

In Marikina, Diodilyn de Jose, Joren Reyes and Michael Dellava were arrested in a sting in Barangay Barangka at around 11 p.m.

In Pasig, Amado Cruz and John Paul Palingayan were arrested for creating trouble in separate incidents on Friday.

Cruz was found to be carrying a sachet of shabu when he was arrested for creating trouble in Barangay Sta. Lucia at around 4:30 p.m.

A sachet of shabu was confiscate­d from Palingayan when he was arrested in Barangay Bambang.
