Molding the model leader

-

In today’s corporate world, leaders are made by their individual effort to hone their skills and sharpen their instincts to reach the summit of their respective professions. With or without an impressive resumé, a leader is made by consistent training, together with mentoring from those who have walked the same path, overcome the hurdles, and gained mastery in their fields.

This is why the First Pacific Leadership Academy (FPLA), the country’s premier corporate university, “champions the holistic growth of leaders in the public and private sector through the seamless integration of excellent leadership and development programs with world-class facilities.”

FPLA offers programs directed at executive leadership and management development, innovation, human resources and organizational development, which are combined with a range of skills development programs. These are carried out through active partnerships with respected local and international educational institutions, its HR and training networks, and its subject matter experts.

The institution’s flagship program called the Corporate Series is designed for those in leadership and management positions or those who possess the potential to take on greater roles. Its courses run the gamut of challenges that a leader can encounter in the workplace.

FPLA considers its recently concluded “Discipline of Personal Change” class “a call to action for participants at any organizational level to be individual and collective contributors to a culture of organizational greatness.” Topics discussed included Defining Greatness, Discipline in the Context of Freedom and Responsibility within a Framework; and Executive Leadership.

The second class titled “Execution Guaranteed” is set on June 19 and 20, which “emphasizes the importance of implementing plans and strategies. It focuses on three major areas that leaders must consider to successfully execute what has been formulated to deliver results.” Its topics will include Rudiments of Execution, Leader’s Behavior that Leads to Execution and Placing a Premium on Recruitment.

The third class titled “Molding Commitments Among Leaders” is slated for Aug. 29 and 30. It encourages managers and supervisors “to work with a greater sense of urgency and a desire to advance the transformation process of an organization.” Its topics will include The Substance of Leadership, Establish the Right Examples and Encourage a Shared Vision.

In “Dealing with Uncertainty and Change,” set for Oct. 16 and 17, participants are presented with principles “that will empower them to lead organizations during tumultuous and rapidly-changing times. It highlights the significance of discipline and systematic action in promoting organizational stability.” Topics will include Prosper Despite Uncertainty, Take a Steady Route and Build Beyond the Norm.

“In today’s fast-paced economy, a leader must not only know how to execute plans and achieve goals; he or she must also learn to be an inspiring force that can bring teams together. Our programs are designed to form renaissance leaders, much like our chairman Manuel V. Pangilinan. First Pacific Leadership Academy is always looking for ways to guarantee that the new generation of Filipino leaders will be flexible, empowered and brave,” said FPLA executive director and general manager Roy Evalle.
