DAVAO CITY – He had it coming.

President Duterte said a Catholic priest could have been slain because of his alleged affairs with at least eight women, many of whom are married to prominent personalities.

The President even presented a matrix during the fiesta celebration of Tabogon town in Cebu yesterday which illustrated the supposed illicit affairs of the slain priest, Fr. Mark Anthony Ventura, 37, in Gatarran, Cagayan last month.

The President presented the matrix, entitled “Possible Motive (Love Triangle),” which had a picture of the priest on it and the photos of at least eight women.

The President stressed that the priest could have been killed because of his alleged affairs with the women, some of whom are married, one to a vice mayor, a policeman, a soldier and a businessman.

“Nganong ‘di ka man mamatay. May asawa bise mayor, may asawa pulis, may asawang sundalo, may asawa dakong negosyante. Eh ‘di patay ka gyud,” the President said.

The President likewise said it is possible that the husband of one of the women could be behind the killing of Ventura.

“Mangabit kang asawa pulis, mangabit kang asawa vice mayor, patay ka gyud,” the President told the crowd at the Tabogon town fiesta.

The President also cleared the New People’s Army of responsibility in the priest’s murder.

Ventura was shot dead in church on April 29 as he was blessing children and talking to choir members after saying mass. He was a known critic of mining activities.
