Deldio, Laurel top age-group side of SUBIT

Vicky Deldio and Patrick Laurel bested their respective rivals to top the 18-19 division while Satar Salem ruled the 20-24 side of the Subic Bay International Triathlon recently.

Andrea Villanueva and Leonard Rondina also dominated their rivals in the 25-29 side of the grueling standard distance 1.5km swim40km bike-10km run course while Jayline Balatibat and Raymond Torio shared top honors in the 30-34 category.

Other winners were Vanessa Redgrave Agdon and Jethro Karl Ramos (35-39), Jennifer Soto and George Vilog (40-44), Leoniza Gusilatar and James Middleditch (45-49), Margaret Cheng (Female 50-above), John Villanueva (50-54), Frank Lacson (55-59) and Donald Bozarth (male 60-above).

One Triathlon Team, meanwhile, turned in a combined time of 12 hours, 34 minutes, five seconds to pocket the crown in the team competition of the event sponsored by the Philippine Olympic Committee (POC), Philippine Sports Commission (PSC), Arena, New Balance, The Philippine STAR, Gatorade, Omega Pain Killer Liniment, Standard Insurance, Lighthouse Marina Resort, Century Tuna, Gatorade, Subic Holiday Villas, Travelers Hotel, ACEA, Asian Center for Insulation and Solar Sports.

Herbalife (12:52:52) and Tri Clark Pampanga’s Best (13:14:06) took the silver and bronze medals, respectively.

In the Sprint Distance (750m swim-20km bike-5km run) event, Charles Lipura bagged the crown in the 16-19 category, Rogelio Visconde ruled the 20-29 section, Irinold Reig reigned in the 30-39 class, Decerel Mendoza and Marlon Quidasol toppled the 40-49 category and June Sunga ruled the 50-above division.

A total of 700 age-group competitors took part in the event, which held its swim leg at the ACEA resort, the bike route going past Naval Magazine gate towards Morong, Bataan, and the run leg at the central business district and the boardwalk area of the freeport.
