SPEEd, Globe, FDCP & Wish for 2nd Eddys

The Society of Philippine Entertainment Editors (SPEEd) has joined forces with some of the industry’s biggest names for the second Eddys (Entertainment Editors’ Choice) in July.

Under the direction of Paolo Valenciano, the Eddys is expected to be grander and more exciting when it hands out awards to the most deserving actors, technical people and films of 2017.

Globe Studios will serve as its major presenter while Wish 107.5 will mount the event.

Prior to the awards night, the Eddys will have its Nominees Night on June 3, 5 p.m., at 38 Valencia Events Place, Quezon City, where the Film Development Council of the Philippines (FDCP), led by chairman Liza Diño, will serve as its main sponsor.

During the Nominees Night, officers of SPEEd and FDCP will give certificates to nominees.

Meanwhile, after the awards night in July, there will be an after-party dubbed The Eddys Mega Party, led by OneMega Group.

Also included in the road to the Eddys Awards night is the special screening of the two Best Film nominated entries Deadma Walking and Birdshot at the Cinematheque Center Manila on May 26 and 27 at 6 p.m.

The film showings conclude the two-day filmmaking seminar-workshop spearheaded by SPEEd with FDCP and Globe at Cinematheque Center for film enthusiasts in line with Globe’s “play it right” antipiracy campaign.

SPEEd is composed of entertainment editors from national daily tabloids and broadsheets. The new set of officers and members of SPEEd are as follows: Ian F. Fariñas (People’s Tonight), president; Tessa MauricioArriola (The Manila Times), external VP; Salve Asis (Pilipino Star Ngayon/PangMasa) internal VP; Maricris Nicasio (Hataw), secretary; Gie Trillana (Malaya Business Insight), assistant secretary; Dinah Ventura (Daily Tribune), treasurer; Dondon Sermino (Abante), assistant treasurer; Dindo Balares (Balita), PRO; Ervin Santiago (Bandera), assistant PRO; and Rohn Romulo (People’s Balita), auditor.
