1st BPO Queen search at MOA on May 29
The first BPO Queen will be crowned on May 29 at the Mall of Asia (MOA) Arena. The event is a nationwide pageant for gay and transsexual members from the Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) industry or what is commonly called as call center. The pageant aims to empower the BPO gay and transsexual employees by giving them a platform to express their thoughts on inclusion, diversity and equality. It is also a celebration of their beauty, wit and talent. As one candidate said during the media presentation at Midas Hotel, ‘Heroes do not only wear capes, they also wear headsets.’
As part of their journey to becoming a BPO Queen, candidates immersed themselves in different activities such as personality development with Jonathan Yabut (first winner of The Apprentice Asia), health and HIV awareness and prevention with Dr. Jody Dalmacion and Dr. Mannix Baja of the University of the Philippines Faculty of Medicine, outreach program with the children of Tahanan ng Pagmamahal, swimwear photo shoot at Tierra Cuta in Batangas, a series of TV guestings, pre-pageant at Sequoia Hotel in Quezon City, and a photo shoot to determine who will be awarded as Miss Photogenic courtesy of Great Image.
The 25 BPO Queen candidates are Ashley (Alorica), AJ (TeleTech), Bangs (Alorica), Farrah (Telus International), Jay (TeleTech), Angel (Acquire), Arkisha (TeleTech), Vinci (Startek), Mhelody (Alorica), MJ (TeleTech), Kim (TeleTech), Rhexy (VXI), Riri (Telus International), Denise (Teleperformance), Queen (Telus International), Georgina (VXI), Sarah (Sitel), Asia (Grab Philippines), Sophia (Teleperformance), Allyson (C3), Nicole (Concentrix), Eula (BSD Trade Services), Scarlett (Tech Mahindra), Stephie (Cognizant) and Khloe (ePerformax).
