Slain OFW home from SoKor

ILOILO CITY – The remains of an overseas Filipino worker, who was found in a septic tank in South Korea, arrived home in Iloilo yesterday morning.

The family of Michael Angelo Claveria, 34, of Cabatuan, Iloilo, received his remains at the Iloilo International Airport at around 9:40 a.m.

The repatriation came weeks after South Korean authorities confirmed that the skeletal remains found in the facility belonged to the Ilonggo worker.

Claveria’s remains was taken to a funeral parlor before it was brought to the family home on Rizal Ilaya street.

His mother Angelita said her son could have given everything he had if the killers only wanted money.

His sister Mayette wanted justice for their brother.

“We want a complete report about what really happened to him. We want to know what’s the cause of his death and who was responsible,” she said.

Claveria left for South Korea in July 2014. His family last heard from him on Christmas Eve until a report came out about a set of human bones found in a water facility.

The skeleton was in a shirt similar to what Claveria was wearing in one of his photographs.

A DNA sample taken from Angelita matched the DNA taken from the skeleton.

Albert Valenciano of the Overseas Workers’ Welfare Administration said the case is under investigation.

He said the government is working with the South Korean police to identify the killers.
