Cardinals seek 5th in row vs Warriors

Mapua guns for a share of the Group A lead as it faces struggling University of the East even as University of the Philippine­s tangles with Emilio Aguinaldo College in the Filoil Flying V Preseason Cup at the Filoil Flying V Center in San Juan today.

The Cardinals swept their first four games in varying fashions to join the idle Ateneo Eagles at second behind the 5-0 La Salle Archers with the Murallabas­ed squad tipped to get past the Warriors in the 4:30 p.m. match.

The Fighting Maroons, on the other hand, look to sustain their surge after dropping their first three matches. The Diliman-based school is now eyeing a fourth straight win against winless EAC in their 12:30 p.m. showdown.

UP is currently tied with National University with both teams fighting for spots in the quarterfin­als. San Beda is also in the hunt with a 2-1 slate in Group A.

With injured center Laminou Hamadou out, EAC is pinning its hopes on the likes of Jerome Garcia, Jeric Diego, Maui Cruz and Philip Tampoc as they try to break off a four-game skid.

San Beda and Mapua, meanwhile, clash at 10 a.m. in the juniors division.

Adamson, on the other hand, mixes it up with Jose Rizal U, winless in six starts, at 2:15 p.m. with the Falcons eyeing a follow-up to their 67-61 escape over the Arellano Chiefs last Friday.
